{"id":267905,"date":"2020-02-18T12:00:17","date_gmt":"2020-02-18T16:00:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/content.carib-export.com\/news\/barbados-becomes-the-latest-caribbean-country-to-launch-an-unctad-iguide\/"},"modified":"2022-06-13T21:39:28","modified_gmt":"2022-06-14T01:39:28","slug":"barbados-becomes-the-latest-caribbean-country-to-launch-an-unctad-iguide","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/content.carib-export.com\/es\/news\/barbados-becomes-the-latest-caribbean-country-to-launch-an-unctad-iguide\/","title":{"rendered":"Barbados se convierte en el \u00faltimo pa\u00eds del Caribe en lanzar una iGuide de la UNCTAD"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Barbados has joined five other Caribbean\ncountries to launch an online investment guide or iGuide with the support of\nthe United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Caribbean\nExport Development Agency (Caribbean Export), the Caribbean Association of\nInvestment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA) and the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The development of an iGuide is an effort\nto improve our region\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s investment facilitation\u00e2\u20ac\u009d informed Mr. Damie Sinanan,\nManager for Competitiveness and Export Promotion at Caribbean Export.&nbsp; Caribbean Export serves as the Secretariat\nfor CAIPA which is focused on attracting investment into the Caribbean and\nsupporting regional investment promotion agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The iGuides are a product of UNCTAD which\nenables potential investors to discover investment opportunities, get a better\nunderstanding of a country\u00c2\u00b4s business costs, key procedures and laws, providing\na range of useful information to support the decision-making process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the launch Chief Executive Officer of\nInvest Barbados, Kay-Anne Brathwaite expressed \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We are confident that the\nlaunch of the Barbados iGuide site will augment the country\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s efforts of making\nit easier for investors to do business in and with Barbados. We know that the\niGuide represents best practice in the provision of information to investors\nand we anticipate that the iGuide will be a tool to attract more foreign\ninvestment in line with our developmental needs\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Caribbean Export in cooperation with the EU\nand CAIPA has been working with UNCTAD to develop iGuides for Caribbean\ncountries as part of an overall Regional Investment Promotion Strategy\n(RIPS).&nbsp; To date, they have supported the\nlaunch of iGuides in Jamaica, Curacao, Saint Lucia and St. Vincent and the\nGrenadines thus far, with an iGuide previously existing in Antigua and Barbuda.&nbsp; This latest launch in Barbados brings the\ntotal number of Caribbean based iGuides to five and there are two more iGuides\nin development for St. Kitts and Nevis, Turks and Caicos, whilst plans are in\nplace to also include Trinidad and Tobago on the platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The idea is not just to promote Barbados\nbut to promote the whole Caribbean as a market for investment opportunities.\nAnd, if you can present the big market, which is the Caribbean, you would be\nmuch more successful in attracting investment,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d shared Ian Richards, Economic\nAffairs Officer at UNCTAD.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Barbados has joined five other Caribbean countries to launch an online investment guide or iGuide with the support of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export), the Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA) and the European Union. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The development of an iGuide is an effort [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":9,"featured_media":249480,"menu_order":0,"template":"","tags":[],"class_list":["post-267905","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.1.1 -
