{"id":268274,"date":"2019-09-16T09:48:23","date_gmt":"2019-09-16T13:48:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/content.carib-export.com\/news\/the-caribbean-fashion-showroom-is-open-for-business\/"},"modified":"2022-06-13T21:46:41","modified_gmt":"2022-06-14T01:46:41","slug":"the-caribbean-fashion-showroom-is-open-for-business","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/content.carib-export.com\/es\/news\/the-caribbean-fashion-showroom-is-open-for-business\/","title":{"rendered":"La sala de exhibici\u00f3n de moda del Caribe est\u00e1 abierta para los negocios"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Caribbean\nFashion Showroom is now open for business online.&nbsp; Featuring designers from across the\nCARIFORUM, the Caribbean Fashion Showroom is poised to become <em>the <\/em>online place to find Caribbean\ndesigners and purchase online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An initiative of the Caribbean Export Development Agency in collaboration with the European Union, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/caribbeanfashionshowroom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Caribbean Fashion Showroom<\/a> has been taken to international trade shows since March this year and is now accessible online with the launch of its online shop.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The launch\nof the online shop is new for Caribbean Export as we look to move forward with\nthe market demands.&nbsp; We recognise that\nboth buyers and consumers find new products and services online and whilst we\nknow that face to face business is still very important for trade, we want to\nbe able to complement this with an online presence\u00e2\u20ac\u009d explained Allyson Francis \u00e2\u20ac\u201c\nServices Specialist at Caribbean Export.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presenting\ndesigners from across the region, the Caribbean Fashion Showroom was initially\nplaced in the heart of the international fashion industry in Los Angeles,\nUnited States where buyers were able to view samples of products during Market\nWeek at the showroom location.&nbsp; Debuting\nin the Caribbean at this years\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 CARIFESTA XIV the Caribbean Fashion Showroom\nwas a significant inclusion in the Fashion District at the Queen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Park\nSavannah, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sandra Carr,\nFashion Programme Leader and Senior Instructor at the University of Trinidad\nand Tobago (UTT) stressed the importance of the Caribbean Fashion Showroom,\n\u00e2\u20ac\u0153the fashion showroom is important because it gives designers visibility and\nhelps them to gain recognition in other markets\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carr also led\na 10-day fashion accelerator programme in July at UTT which was co-funded by\nCaribbean Export and the Caribbean Development Bank which enabled 20 designers\nto build their capacity in the business side of the fashion industry as well as\nimprove their technical ability to produce goods at the quality expected at the\ninternational level.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The\ncollaborative project with Caribbean Export, CDB and UTT focused on refinement\nof products designed to build capacity and fill the gaps of designers. Current\nindustry best practices were highlighted to refine quality, with the focus on generating\nsustainable sources of revenue and foreign exchange. The Caribbean Fashion\nShowroom at Carifesta XIV was evidence that it had met the objective, as many\nvisitors were impressed by the display and insisted on more information on\ndesigners.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the\ncoming few months Caribbean Export plans to continue supporting the development\nof designers with a range of interventions that include business coaching and\nmentoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The success of the online shop is really dependent on the designers that are part of it as they have to have their own online presence.&nbsp; Whilst we can provide a platform for buyers and consumers to find all things Caribbean fashion ultimately it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s down to the designers to \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcclose the deal\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 and we are working with them through our accelerator programme in collaboration with UTT to ensure their pricing is correct, their technical skills are on par and that they are armed with what is necessary for the business of fashion\u00e2\u20ac\u009d concluded Francis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the Caribbean Fashion Showroom on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/caribbeanfashionshowroom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Facebook (opens in a new tab)\">Facebook<\/a> and <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Instagram (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/caribbeanfashionshowroom\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Caribbean Fashion Showroom is now open for business online.&nbsp; Featuring designers from across the CARIFORUM, the Caribbean Fashion Showroom is poised to become the online place to find Caribbean designers and purchase online.
