{"id":267627,"date":"2020-11-23T09:32:48","date_gmt":"2020-11-23T13:32:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/content.carib-export.com\/news\/absolutely-caribbean-virtual-expo-a-hit-with-regional-businesses\/"},"modified":"2022-06-13T20:53:34","modified_gmt":"2022-06-14T00:53:34","slug":"absolutely-caribbean-virtual-expo-a-hit-with-regional-businesses","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/content.carib-export.com\/fr\/news\/absolutely-caribbean-virtual-expo-a-hit-with-regional-businesses\/","title":{"rendered":"&lsquo;Absolutely Caribbean Virtual Expo&rsquo; un succ\u00e8s aupr\u00e8s des entreprises r\u00e9gionales"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The \u00e2\u20ac\u02dc<strong>Absolutely Caribbean Virtual Expo\u00e2\u20ac\u2122<\/strong> was a resounding success for regional businesses looking to break into the lucrative European market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 17-18 November, 50 Caribbean companies taking part in the live expo linked up with over 450 European-based registrants with a keen interest in Caribbean sauces and condiments, natural products including food, cosmetics and nutraceuticals, as well as alcoholic beverages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ground-breaking event held under the theme, \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcUnlocking the Profit Potential of the Caribbean\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, was hosted by the Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) in collaboration with the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Damie Sinanan, Manager of Competitiveness and Export Promotion at Caribbean Export, said: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We wanted to create a focused event, recognising that securing buyers time would be difficult given the virtual environment and the current mode of doing business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Each participant was allocated a booth and was able to conduct virtual meetings.&nbsp; The virtual expo enabled those interested to browse and target specific sectors and products of interest, giving a higher success rate for the meetings\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lynda Francisque, Head Buyer at Pikyanga in France, described the expo experience as \u00e2\u20ac\u0153time saving and interesting\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. She added: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The number of participants was meaningful, because each one was very committed to providing the appropriate information.\u00c2&nbsp; It definitely saved me more time than going to halls one to ten\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over 250 business-to-business meetings took place during the event, with many exhibitors expressing high hopes for follow-ups and penetration in new markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participating exhibitor Indira Weech, founder of BahamaSpa, said the expo was worthwhile. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve made a few solid contacts and had some interesting conversations,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d she stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ida Williams of Jamaica\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Tijule Company gave the <strong>Absolutely Caribbean Virtual Expo<\/strong> \u00e2\u20ac\u0153high marks\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. &nbsp;Despite some technical challenges with video calls, Ms Williams said Tijule was still able to connect with potential buyers offline and engage with them after the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The expo\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s extensive programme of informative and insightful webinars were also well received. The <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/kgop9PdhG-s\">Caribbean Flava<\/a> session featuring UK chefs Craig and Shaun McAnuff of \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcOriginal Flava\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 was described as \u00e2\u20ac\u0153excellent\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u00e2\u20ac\u02dc<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/aV1XOMwMn9c\">It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Saucy\u00e2\u20ac\u2122<\/a> webinar explored the sauces and condiments industry and also highlighted the trends and clear opportunities across Europe for Caribbean exporters in various other sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The International Trade Center (ITC) Alliances for Action hosted three discussions. The first one looked at <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/xkLCjT5PExk\">food trends<\/a> post COVID-19 in the Caribbean. The second focused on <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/GdK5YZnQqME\">Bean to Bar<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/HEc1pXpN2q4\">Bean to Cup<\/a> and delved into the opportunities and challenges for exporters of chocolate and coffee respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The webinar on \u00e2\u20ac\u02dc<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/EiSHFqdbQkM\">All Things Natural\u00e2\u20ac\u2122<\/a>, gave health conscious visitors an opportunity to understand more about the function of indigenous products found in the Caribbean, and how they can be processed and used in the food, cosmetics and nutraceutical industries among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u00e2\u20ac\u02dc<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/fu8DwaHFpis\">Take a Sip\u00e2\u20ac\u2122<\/a> webinar featured a global panel who shared the history of Caribbean rum, as well as practical tips on how to position rum and spirit brands in the European market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Registration and access to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/absolutelycaribbean.vfairs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Absolutely Caribbean Virtual Expo<\/a><\/strong> and its educational content will be available on demand until December 18, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcAbsolutely Caribbean Virtual Expo\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 was a follow-up event to the successful 4th CARIFORUM-EU Business Forum held in Frankfurt, Germany in September 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The expo was produced in collaboration with the European Union as part of the 11<sup>th<\/sup> EDF Regional Private Sector Development Programme.
