Ambassador Daniela\nTramacere, Head of the EU Delegation of the European Union to Barbados, Eastern\nCaribbean, OECS and CARICOM\/CARIFORUM, for the agency\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s work involving the\nCARIFORUM-EU Economic Partnership Agreement or EPA. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/content.carib-export.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/ambassador.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-249296\" width=\"561\" height=\"466\" srcset=\"https:\/\/content.carib-export.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/ambassador.jpg 748w, https:\/\/content.carib-export.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/ambassador-300x249.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 561px) 100vw, 561px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The CARIFORUM-EU Economic Partnership\nAgreement or EPA is a trade and development partnership signed in 2008 by the\n15 states of CARIFORUM and the EU&#8217;s 28 countries, with objectives to facilitate\ntrade and investment between the EU and CARIFORUM and to catalyse development\nacross the Caribbean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ambassador Tramacere praised the work\ndone by Caribbean Export on the promotion of Caribbean firms at international\nfairs and fora, including business-to-business meetings like those held in\nFrankfurt, Germany at the 4<sup>th<\/sup> CARIFORUM-EU Business Forum in\nSeptember 2019, and which have paved the way to a number of leads. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, Ambassador Tramacere\nevoked that supporting CARIFORUM firms to leverage the CARIFORUM-EU EPA and to\ntransform market access opportunities into real market penetration has been at\nthe forefront of the Caribbean Export Development Agency\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s work programme which\nis being funded by the European Union. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2010, approximately EUR 52\nmillion (about 58.1 million U.S. dollars) have been dedicated to enhancing the\ncompetitiveness and value of the Caribbean brands through the delivery of\ntransformative and targeted interventions in export development and investment\npromotion.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Concerning the CARIFORUM-EU EPA, the\nEU Ambassador remarked, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The region has one of the best Economic Partnership\nAgreements which provides duty and quota free market access for all Caribbean\nproducts. Unlike other EPAs that the EU has concluded, the CARIFORUM-EU EPA\nalso provides substantial market access for services\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Caribbean Export released a series of\nexplainer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLr0w--_hV6qq3pE6qGKZwQhQHoNWrmkqZ\">videos<\/a> to support\nincreased awareness in the private sector for the benefits of exporting to\nEurope.&nbsp; \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We recognize that the average\nperson isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t going to sit down to read a trade agreement and so we wanted to\nbreak it down so businesses understood more easily the opportunities available\nand how they can leverage the benefits of the EPA whilst exporting to Europe\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\ninformed Dr. Damie Sinanan, Manager \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Competitiveness and Export Promotion,\nCaribbean Export.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The series not only breaks down\ngeneral provisions such as duty and quota free market access and rules of\norigin, but also sector specific provisions making it easier for viewers to\nunderstand how practitioners in sectors such as music, food, craft and Information\nCommunication and Technology (ICT) can leverage the EPA when exporting to\nEurope.&nbsp; The EPA video series was a\nsignificant resource added to the Agency\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cedev.local\/news\/bringing-ce-intelligence-to-the-caribbean\/\">CE-Intelligence portal<\/a> which was launched in 2018.&nbsp; The CE-Intelligence portal provides\ninformation for its users in the areas of trade and business intelligence;\naccess to finance with a listing of financial institutions and opportunities\nacross the region; step by step export guides; foreign direct investment and a\nsection on food safety providing information on the market entry requirements\nof key markets such as the EU, the USA, and Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To learn more about the EPA, go to\nCaribbean Export\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s website or follow this direct link: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cedev.local\/the-epa\/\">https:\/\/www.cedev.local\/the-epa\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Caribbean Export Development Agency has recently received commendation from H.E.
