Caribbean Project Preparation and Investment Platform

Access to Finance through the Caribbean Project Preparation and Investment Platform (CPPIP)

The CPPIP was developed as a pilot project in response to the fall off in foreign direct investment in many Caribbean territories as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic on investor confidence. Caribbean Export, in collaboration with the Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA) has sought to broaden the investment attraction strategy for the region by targeting a diverse mix of investors, placing priority focus on equity investors. This strategy will include the promotion of Caribbean investment opportunities to investors that have previously been excluded from targeting strategies, namely those who invest smaller amounts, e.g. the diaspora and family offices, as well as hedge funds and pension funds. The Caribbean investment opportunities accepted under this programme may be large private sector or PPP projects or businesses (small and medium sized operations) seeking investment capital to grow or expand.

The CPPIP will seek to:

  1. Prepare large projects and SME opportunities making them investment-ready (equity or debt) through a process of investment packaging;
  2. Provide a one-stop regulatory compliant convening platform where investment deals or investment opportunities can be showcased to global retail, institutional, diaspora, individual investors; and
  3. Assist Caribbean Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) to prepare their pipeline of projects for capital raising under this programme.
